For BASA, it was not just about enjoyment — it was about highlighting the industry’s role in jobs, economic contribution, and culture. The day also underscored the importance of supporting legitimate, responsible beer brands in the fight against illicit alcohol. BREWERY TOURS - 7 AUGUST BASA kicked off its inaugural brewery tour at OC Brewery, run by Tudy and Gavin Marais. With a stylish setting and a diverse range of craft beers, the tasting showcased standouts like the crisp Buxom Barmaid and flavour- packed Screamer and Lager Larger, leaving a memorable impression for future tours. WOMEN’S DAY – 9 AUGUST National Women’s Day honours women’s courage and leadership. BASA shone a spotlight on women shaping the beer industry, emphasizing that inclusivity and diversity drive growth and innovation. TOURISM INVESTMENT FORUM AFRICA – 27–29 AUGUST BASAparticipated in TIFA, bringing together policymakers, investors, and industry leaders to unlock Africa’s tourism potential. Beer plays a vital role in tourism, from breweries and festivals to township enterprises. A highlight was our CEO’s address at the SME Connect Zone & Exhibition on “Unlocking SME Growth,” sharing insights on supporting small and emerging SMMEs. BASA’s participation reinforced beer’s role as a key partner in tourism and inclusive economic development. WOMEN ON TAP – 29 AUGUST To close out Women’s Month, BASA hosted Women on Tap, celebrating the women powering the beer value chain — from farmers and processors to transporters, brewers, sales reps, traders, media, marketing, and corporate teams. The event received overwhelming RSVPs, and BASA thanks all partners and members who joined and supported us. BASA’s CEO extended warm wishes: “We continue to see women rising in beer, and that is something we not only appreciate but actively encourage.” The celebration reflects BASA’s vision of a diverse, inclusive industry where every contribution is recognized and celebrated.
