The area is famous for wine and advertised around the world for the scenic restaurants, delicious culinary experiences and the romantic towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl. Luckily for beer lovers, the breweries also benefit from that same experience, but with the added benefit of a craft beer in hand, which surely enhances any experience. LILYPATRICK CRAFT BREWERY A wonderfully rustic taproom less than 10 minutes outside Stellenbosch. They are locally known for their IPA and pizzas and also hosts Lunar Brew beers and the occasional special release. KAROO CRAFT BREWERIES An absolute gem just off the R101 heading to Paarl with a solid selection of beers to boot. Abrand-new taproom with a great food menu is opening in September. SOUL BARREL BREWING Awarded the Africa Cup’s best beer in Africa in 2022, the beer selection ranges from IPAs and Pilsners to wild fermented as well as unique beers using Fynbos. There is a great restaurant on site and other activities to keep the whole family busy. CAPE BREWING COMPANY A well-known brand in South Africa and a with legendary brewer behind the beers, this is a great stop as part of your exploration of the Spice Route Destination. BERG RIVER BREWERY A hidden gem on the outskirts of Paarl beside the Berg River. This is a truly beautiful venue and the beers are top notch. They have some unique beer styles that everyone should try. THE FRANSCHHOEK BEER COMPANY An award-winning brewery with brilliant food and very pleasant inside and outside dining areas. They have a fantastic core range of beers and some interesting hard seltzers for the non- beer drinkers. HEY JOE BREWING COMPANY This Belgian beer inspired taproom has a great food offering alongside high-quality beer, in a gorgeous setting as you enter Franschhoek. TUK TUK MICROBREWERY Situated in the heart of Franschhoek this is a wonderful stop for well-made beer paired with delicious food. The visible brewing system adds an elegant ambiance. SAGGY STONE WINELANDS Although Saggy Stone’s home and brewery taproom is just outside Robertson, they do however have a fantastic taproom just outside Stellenbosch.
