14 | Autumn 2021 | ontapmag.co.za BREW Tanzanian microbrewery Craft Dee’s Brewing Co. has expanded their brewing setup and added a smart new taproom. Situated in Dar es Salaam, the taproom is a leafy, light-filled space with the 500-litre SKRLJ brewery showcased behind large glass windows. There’s a select menu of classic bar snacks and of course plenty of beer to douse the steamy Dar weather. Durban Brewing Company has launched a sleek new taproom at On Point Waterfront in central Durban. The warehouse-like space features a number of pop-up restaurants alongside the sizable taproom. Read more about the new space in our KZN travel feature on page 34. Just BrewingCompany hasmoved from their location in the Modderfontein Nature Reserve to new premises in Benoni. The collaborative taproom will still go by the name At Hops End and will feature beers from Just Brewing and Greyton-based Old Potter’s Inn, as well as guest beers. They are also offering contract brewing and canning services. Brewing is currently underway and the new taproom will open towards the end of March. TO HENLEY ON KLIP The team at Swagga Breweries took advantage of the most recent lockdown to relocate the brewery to Henley on Klip, south of Johannesburg. Swagga on Route 59 is a true destination brewery, with a kids’ play area, popular pub food, live music on weekend and plenty of tables out on the lawn.
