Rafael D’Armas’ path into beer is far from linear. A young, idealistic student of politics and international relations, Rafael spent a decade working in development and policy-making. When that career began to break his heart, he found a new one: brewing beer. FromRafael’s vantage point, however, the two paths are not so separate as one might think. Rafael was a Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling awardee, where he is now a board member. He also serves on the board of the Beer Culture Center and is a brewer at Kings County Brewers Collective in New York City.
