BEER IN COMMUNITY MANDISA MAGWAXAZA WOMEN WHO DARE TO DRINK FROMBROWN BOTTLES ‘Beer in Community’ is a new section that hopes to explore how beer is experienced in different local environments or settings. These stories might look at persisting gender assumptions about who can drink what kinds of beer, as this article does, or the role that beer can play in building connection and community. In our first piece, which will be part of a short series, Mandisa Magwaxaza recounts the drinking customs and assumptions that were prevalent in her rural black South African family growing up.
