E ach year, on International Women’s Day (8 March), the beer world celebrates with a series of female- led collab brews across the globe. International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) was started in 2014 by Sophie de Ronde, head brewer at Burnt Mill Brewery in the UK, and has since gathered steam across the globe. This year in South Africa, brew days took place at Black Horse Brewery in Gauteng, Balgowan Brewery in KZN and Darling Brewery in the Western Cape. The beers were designed to benefit from a few months of ageing and are all due to launch on National Women’s Day, 9 August.
