She recently began to homebrew in earnest, hoping to soon master a saison recipe or two. While originally hailing from the state of Vermont, Joya has spent well over half her life abroad, and is currently happy to call Cape Town home. In this issue, Joya looks at the relationship between craft beer and art on page 30. Joya Taft-Dick Laura records stories of the communities, producers and history of beer. Her first book, ‘50 Years of CAMRA’ was released in March 2021. She also runs a creative agency for small businesses called Thirst Media which supports a number of breweries, vineyards and pubs. He loves everything about beer, be it the science, the history, or the practical nature. His life quest is to brew the perfect English Bitter. Rob Cass Danie is a brewer with 22 years’ experience in commercial production, new product development, equipment, problem solving and consultancy roles. He has an M. Brew from the IBD and currently runs a consultancy supporting breweries and liquid development in the FMCG sector. Most importantly he is a beer lover, beergazer (someone that lovingly looks at beer in a glass) and beer advocate.
