She is the founder of www.brewmistress.co.za and writes for numerous international beer publications. Lucy started South African National Beer Day in 2016 and co-founded the African Beer Cup with her husband, Shawn, in 2018. She is Africa’s first Advanced Cicerone and runs a range of workshops and training courses on all things beer related. Lucy Corne Craig started his journey in beer as a homebrewer in a London bedsit in 2004. He is a partner at Neelsie Travel and it was in 2017 that he fused his passion for tourism and craft beer to create the Beer Route, an organisation set up to promote craft beer tourism in South Africa. He is also the co-founder of Lunar Brew and current chairperson of the Helderberg Homebrew Club. Check out Beer Route at www.beerroute.co.za . Craig Claassen Lotte is a Certified Cicerone, accredited Beer Sommelier, international beer judge and beer writer who conducts talks and tastings about American craft beer, organises events and is a keen advocate of beer and food pairing. She co-authored her first book ‘World’s Greatest Beers’, published by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) in the UK in August 2022. She is the Brewers Association’s American Craft Beer Ambassador for Europe and a member of CAMRA’s London tasting panel. Lotte Peplow Luke is the Creative Director of Bature Brewery, pioneers of craft beer in West Africa. He is also the Founder and Creative Director of Pim-Pam, an award-winning creative, design, and digital agency. Splitting his time between Scotland and Pim-Pam's newly established West Africa base, Luke leads projects across the drinks, sports, arts, and independent industries. Marcel is our in-house homebrew expert. Marcel Harper Nick believes great beer will change the world. After attending the Master Brewers Program at UC Davis, he spent ten years in the US craft beer industry including time in brewing, distribution, and sales before starting Soul Barrel Brewing outside of Franschhoek in 2017, a boutique brewery built within the century-old wine tanks of the former Drakenstein Winery Co-Op. Soul Barrel brews artisanal beer with a focus on South African ingredients, hoppy ales and old-world fermentations. They are the only brewery to win Best Beer in Africa twice and believe in brewing with soul. Nick Smith Rueben is a CrossFit coach and copywriter, who like most men in their late thirties got into homebrewing at some point with the hope of their craft becoming a household name. Unfortunately, like most of those individuals, this did not transpire, and he settled on sampling as many others’ creations as life will allow, while occasionally still cooking up something sketchy in his garage.
