OnTap Magazine

FROM THE ON TAP TEAM As this is the last issue that Lucy will be editing, we at On Tap would like to express our deepest thanks for the work that she has done over the last 6 years in getting the magazine to where it is today. She has been instrumental in her contributions as the editor for the publication and working with her has been both a pleasure and a privilege. Lucy, we wish you success in your future ventures! e future of On Tap is bright, we will be featuring guest editors over the next period and are excited about the next ‘chapter’ of the publication, future editions will also feature articles by Lucy - she is still very much the Brewmistress. From Andrew and Rachel From The Editor I ’ve been putting o writing this, but the rest of the magazine is ready to go and I can put it o no longer. I was trying to think of something clever or witty or poignant to say because you see, this is my 26th and nal From the Editor dispatch. I remember the day when Andrew rst phoned me telling me he wanted to start a beer magazine in South Africa. It wasn’t the rst time I’d been approached to edit a beer publication here and previous attempts had come to nothing, so I wasn’t too optimistic. Within four months, the rst issue of On Tap was printed. It has been six marvellous years of seeking out stories and seeking out contributors to help write them; of learning everything it takes to edit a special interest magazine and of seeing the magazine grow and improve. We’re a very small team here at OnTap – just myself, Rachel du Plessis, our incredibly talented designer, and Andrew omas, the founder and publisher of the mag. Of course, we have relied on the assistance of many, many contributors both local and international throughout the six years as well, but the core team has just been the three of us. And now I am stepping down as editor. I still plan to contribute to each issue of the magazine and am in no way stepping back in the industry, On the contrary I have some major projects lined up for 2023 – part of the reason I am hanging up my editor’s hat. One thing I really want to do next year is write another book. And now I’ve announced it in these pages, I feel I will have to actually follow through and get it done. Over the next year you’ll see a selection of guest editors taking the On Tap reins and I for one am excited to see where they’ll take the mag and which articles will ll these pages. I’ve had a blast these past six years and I want to thank everyone that’s contributed, helped promote the magazine, said nice things about the content and especially everyone who gave it pride of place on their bathroom shelf. I consider it a great honour that you read my words on the lavatory – those are precious moments of quiet time and I’m happy that you allowed me to spend them with you. Most of all, a massive cheers to Andrew, a man who had the balls to start a beer magazine in SA and who turned it into something pretty damn cool. anks Andrew – it’s been a giant bucket of fun. Thank you for reading (especially if you’re on the toilet) Cheers! Lucy Corne EDITOR @LucyCorne ontapmag.co.za | Summer 2022 | 1
