We encourage beer lovers to continue sharing photos of their visits to breweries situated on the Brew Routes map and tagging the BASA social media pages on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter over the festive season. These can be found here: Facebook: @BeerSouthAfrica Instagram: @beer_SouthAfrica Twitter: @BeerSA_org With the start of the summer season, most South Africans are looking for opportunities to enjoy a well- deserved break after another long year. Supporting our local businesses is critical, as our country begins to focus on its economic recovery, and so the Beer Association of South Africa (BASA) encourages citizens to visit craft breweries across the country during the festive season. BASA’s Brew Routes features 180 breweries across South Africa on an online map, which can be accessed by visiting www.brewroutes.co.za. This site provides SouthAfricans with an overview of all our local craft breweries, where they are based and how you can contact them to arrange a tour or tasting. BASA has also curated six specific routes, namely in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, North West, Gauteng, KwaZulu- Natal and Mpumalanga, which can be downloaded from the website. These routes also include other local tourist attractions, which can be enjoyed by the whole family. BASA plans to continue expanding the Brew Routes map to include beer routes across all nine provinces over the coming months. With craft breweries that managed to survive the four alcohol bans still struggling to get back on their feet, BASA would like to encourage South Africans to visit our local breweries and taprooms in order to give these local businesses and the livelihoods they support a boost. There are currently 31 craft breweries that remain on the brink of closure – and so we hope that the Brew Routes will help send more feet through their doors over the holiday period. Along with the release of the Brew Routes, BASA launched the biggest beer selfie competition that ran from the September 24 to October 31, 2021. South Africans were encouraged to take a selfie with their friends or family at their favourite brewery and upload it to Instagram tagging the brewery and BASA (@beer_southafrica) with the hashtags #BeerSouthAfrica and #BrewRoutes in order to stand the chance of winning their share of vouchers and experiences from breweries across the country. The proud winners of the beer selfie competition have been shared in the pages that follow. BASA LAUNCHES BEER TOURISMWEEK AND BREWROUTES ACROSS SA
