In support of Tourism Month in September and in the lead up to World Tourism Day on 27 September, the Beer Association of South Africa (BASA) has launched the all-new, Tshwane Brew Routes for beer lovers living in and visiting Gauteng. The main aim of the BASA Brew Routes is to promote the 150 craft breweries located across South Africa and encourage South Africans to visit these establishments. The launch of the Tshwane Brew Route included a visit to three locations featured on the Tshwane Brew Routes map, namely Drayman’s Brewery, Hazeldean Brewing Company and Capital Craft Beer Academy, where participants were afforded the opportunity to meet the brewers and were provided with an overview of the brewing process as well as beer tastings. Guests included representatives from the City of Tshwane's Tourism Division, the Tshwane Tourism Association, the Gauteng Liquor Authority as well as travel service providers such as Mmilo Tours, Seretse Travel Services and a number of other big local hotel groups. The Brew Routes interactive online map can be accessed by visiting www.brewroutes.co.za . The downloadable maps also highlight other tourist attractions, which can be visited as part of these routes so that there is something for the whole family to enjoy. BASA encourages South Africans to visit the onlinemap and to support a local brewery, especially during South Africa’s annual Beer Tourism Week, which is coming up from 19– 25 September. This will help ensure the future sustainability of the craft beer sector and thousands of jobs that these world- class establishments support. Be sure to visit the Tshwane Brew Routes this September, and take a tour to visit Friar’s Habit, Drayman’s Brewery, Hazeldean Brewing Company, Bullcook, Bernie’s Brewery or Grain and Able. Let’s show our local craft brewing sector some love!
