People’s choice judging – winner is the beer that’s closest to the original. Competition entry fee R30 for non-members. 21 Homebrewer’s Bash Brewcraft, Centurion | 10am – 4pm Homebrewers get together to swap ideas and taste each other’s beers and spirits. There will be great food available and music to get everyone in the mood. The Joker Draw will take place where you stand a chance to win a Grainfather all-in-one brewing system. All proceeds collected on the day go towards the 12 rhino babies that Brewcraft has adopted at the Rhino Orphanage. 30 Saturday Session Brewcraft, Jetpark | 10am – 4pm Brewcraft’s annual Saturday Session: a fundraiser for the Rhino Orphanage, where homebrewers get together to show off some of their best beers. Paired with this is an excellent event filled with music, food and competitions including a chance to win your very own Grainfather. Come and enjoy some homebrew and share knowledge. 09 Calling all homebrewers – it’s time to enter the annual National Homebrew Champs. The competition is held each year in October and November and is open to any homebrewer. Licenced, commercial brewers are not eligible. There is no limit on how many beers you can enter, with a fee of R150 per beer. This year’s competition will also feature a new category especially for low alcohol beers. Sponsored by BASA, the category is for beers with an ABV of less than 3% and also includes non-alcoholic beer. The beer can be any style as long as it meets the ABV requirements. These entries will be judged to the 2015 BJCP guidelines with the provision of being low-alcohol. This category is free to enter.
