Craig Groeneveld Lotte is a Certified Cicerone, accredited Beer Sommelier, international beer judge and beer writer who conducts talks and tastings about American craft beer, organises events and is a keen advocate of beer and food pairing. She co-authored her first book ‘World’s Greatest Beers’, published by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) in the UK in August 2022. She is the Brewers Association’s American Craft Beer Ambassador for Europe and a member of CAMRA’s London tasting panel. Lotte Peplow Kelly “KfM” Meyer is an author and host of the How Not to Start a Damn Brewery podcast. He describes himself as, “anAmerican craft beer fan that owned a brewery for a decade, but doesn’t anymore.” As hewitnessed his investment and dreamof running a brewery disappear in 2019, he sat down and made a list of all that he had done wrong and How Not to Start a Damn Brewery. Kelly Meyer Nick believes great beer will change the world. After attending the Master Brewers Program at UC Davis, he spent ten years in the US craft beer industry including time in brewing, distribution, and sales before starting Soul Barrel Brewing outside of Franschhoek in 2017, a boutique brewery built within the century-oldwine tanks of the former DrakensteinWineryCo-Op. Soul Barrel brews artisanal beer with a focus on South African ingredients, hoppy ales and old-world fermentations. They are the only brewery to win Best Beer in Africa twice and believe in brewing with soul. Nick Smith With almost 19 years in the analytical, brewing, and malting industry, Marina started as a senior laboratory technician in 2002 at SAB Chamdor brewery, before starting her first technical traineeship in brewing in 2005. She started training as a maltster in Caledon in 2013 and even worked as a content editor for IBD, before joining South Africa’s first craft malting plant as general manager in 2019. Today, Marina is back at AB InBev as the Agro-processing Manager, specifically working in R&D of new barley cultivars and alternative crops in Africa. Marina du Plessis Peter Haydon is a beer sommelier, brewer, author and beer writer. He learnt to brew at the UK’s pioneering craft brewery Meantime before setting up his own brewery, A Head In A Hat, specialising in recreating old brews from long gone London breweries. As General Secretary of the UK’s Society of Independent Brewers he was responsible for persuading the UK government to introduce Progressive Beer Duty in the 2002 Budget. His book The English Pub: A History remains the seminal work on the subject. Peter Haydon Charlotte is a head brewer in London with an MSc in Brewing Science from the University of Nottingham. She has a special interest in sensory science and travels around the world tasting and judging beer. Charlotte Cook Michael Biljon is the head brewer of Brewhogs in Kyalami. With 15 years of experience in commercial brewing, he is driven by a deep appreciation for the craft and a commitment to achieving consistency inbeer quality. In 2024 he attained theBrewingDiploma fromtheChartered Institute of Brewing&Distilling. When he is not brewing, he can be found tinkeringwith his (many) Excel brewing calculators. Michael Biljon Marius is the Founder, Owner and Operator of Hazeldean Brewing Co, a farm-style brewery located on Hazeldean Farm, East of Pretoria. He has been brewing beer on a commercial scale for almost 10 years, eight of those years solidly invested and embedded in the sour and barrel- aged beer scene. Marius Botha Armed with a BSc in Environmental Management, Gert spends his days consulting on health and safety and environmental matters.
