BEEREX AFRICA 2024 FOOLS & FANS 7 BeerEx Africa (formerly the Craft Brewers Powwow) returns in May and there are big changes in store for the 2024 edition. The conference and expo are moving to a new venue closer to the CBD – the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Woodstock. This year, attendees can build their own package from the various events, including beer launches and food pairings at nearby breweries as well as the main expo and conference. Tickets for the expo start at just R95, while the one-day conference (including expo) is R795. Speakers at this year's conference include Peter Bouckaert, owner of Purpose Brewing in Colorado and former brewmaster at Rodenbach and New Belgium, Ulrike Genz, owner of Scheeeule Brauerei in Berlin and global expert on Berliner Weisse, Kevin Conroy, founder of Bature Brewery in Nigeria and Adam Dulye, Executive Chef with the US Brewers Association. This magical little town plays host to a festival celebrating some of the best craft breweries from all corners of South Africa as well as giving a home to the annual National Homebrew Club Championship. The festival has been split over two days. Day 1 (5th of April) is the largest homebrew festival in the country, offering unlimited homebrew tasters from the clubs who have made the journey to Greyton. Day 2 (6th of April) is dedicated to the amazing small and large, award- winning craft breweries who will be serving some of their most sought- after beers. Several breweries use this occasion to release once-off, seasonal or collaboration beers brewed especially for the festival. Each ticket gets a free commemorative festival glass, unique to 2024.
