OnTap Magazine

Prost! Craig Claassen GUEST EDITOR From The (Guest) Editor L et me start rst by thanking Lucy Corne for the massive role she played in building On Tap into such a successful magazine. I had the privilege of working with her on a few editions prior to my stint as guest editor and her support has been a testament to her character. In preparation for taking on this rather large task of lling her boots on this transitional edition, I read through quite a number of the previous editions. It reminded me that On Tap has really been capturing the rise of the craft beer culture in South Africa. What became clear quite early on in my stint, was that this magazine publication is made possible by the great support of Andrew omas as the owner of In House Publications and the fantastic creative contributions of Rachel Du Plessis of Prycision; her creativity on layout and design is immeasurable. Not to mention the many contributors, always enthusiastic to add value to the publication. My vision for this edition was to bridge the gap between what had been established and where the magazine might go in the future; hopefully with a gentle hand. us, my rst focus was to create some sort of continuity of what was in place, while also introducing some features like gear reviews and adding simpli ed water chemistry and representative yeast suggestions to homebrew recipes. I have also had the privilege of working with your next guest editor, Joya Taft-Dick, a gifted story teller and an extraordinary writer. Look out for her “Against the Grain” contribution in this issue. I would like to end by thanking all the contributors from around the world. I hope you, the reader and beer enthusiast, appreciate their e orts and enjoy the edition we have put together for you. ontapmag.co.za | Autumn 2023 | 1
